Manager -- Cloud Applications OPEN TO REMOTE

Job Description:

The Activision Infrastructure team is looking for a Manager, Cloud Applications to join the team either 100% remotely, or in our offices in Vancouver, Canada or in Sherman Oaks, California. This team supports a variety of cloud workloads and you will be instrumental in setting standards and supporting key technologies. You will help drive efficiencies for both cost and performance within Amazon Web Services and the Google Cloud Platform.

We work on building a set of easy to use Cloud tools and applications, as well as large, distributed systems such as Kafka and Cassandra, and keep them running in the Cloud.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of Cloud DevOps Engineers, including goal setting, career growth, and mentoring in conjunction with technical leaders in the team

• Consult developer teams to gather their needs on our cloud application stacks, including Grafana, JFrog, and Hashicorp products

• Manage relationships with software vendors’ account teams

• Develop and manage consistent and coherent SRE processes and practices to support software development, testing, builds and deployment

• Ensure the team is building infrastructure & tools to enable high uptime, minimize failures, and ensure application & data security.

• Help set appropriate technical and procedural standards to enable team success

• Participate in a manager on-call escalation rotation

• Drive IaC and automation projects to produce scalable and repeatable infrastructure

• Guide cloud, security and data governance standards and requirements

• Actively improve documentation repositories

Role Requirements

• Leadership experience with direct reports

• Experience running scrum, agile, or similar day-to-day rituals for a team

• Ability to manage and prioritize competing requirements and requests

• Familiarity with systems design or architecture at scale

• Understanding of microservices & distributed systems

• Solid knowledge of public cloud architecture concepts and practice (GCP, AWS, or Azure)

• High-level knowledge of logging & observability (e.g. Grafana/Datadog/New Relic/ELK or similar)

• Experience managing reproducible infrastructure e.g. Infrastructure as Code

• Use of Work/defect tracking & Wiki systems such as Jira/Confluence

• Communication skills, and use of these to support customers and developers

• Problem solving skills and ability to search for appropriate solutions

Nice To Have

• Ansible or Ansible AWX experience

• Clear understanding of Networking concepts (e.g., Firewalls, VPC, VPN, DNS, etc.)

• Experience working with or managing vendors

• Knowledge of the use and maintenance of continuous integration and continuous deployment CI/CD systems

• Experience with Hashicorp Vault or similar secrets management system

• Experience with Security tooling e.g. Prisma Cloud, GCP Security Control Center or Cloud Security best practices

• Work experience in a Hybrid Cloud environment
