YOUR MISSION
This role provides support services to all engaged departments: Marketing, PR, Production and development studios to produce high-quality art assets, primarily creative design and . Typical end use will include, but is not limited to, editorial, social, marketing, internal, and occasionally in-game use.
As a Creative Lead, you will manage a team of graphic designers as they produce work for all of Activision's IPs. You will function as both Art Director and Manager - you're responsible for creating and maintaining campaign creative across a wide array of assets, while also building an environment that fosters creativity and enables growth.
This role includes but is not limited to the following tasks/duties:
- Provide feedback and art direction on individual projects to ensure quality
- Make sure projects meet the brief and are delivered on time, sometimes setting internal check-ins and milestones
- Meet with key stakeholders to determine the overall purpose of the asset and where it fits into the brand strategy
- Collaborate with Video, GFX, Strategy and other teams as needed to create design assets to be passed onto other groups
- Meet regularly to go through upcoming projects with stakeholders and account team
- Provide regular feedback into the professional development of and check in on the wellbeing of direct reports
- Solve interpersonal or professional issues as they arise
- Provide guidance when a direct report isn’t meeting their baseline responsibilities
- Provide guidance when free time arises to grow and strengthen talent by encouraging the development of ideas that will result in innovative and fun assets to promote the games
- Concept, pitch and execute ideas for social campaigns
- Lead the develop of brand identities for seasonal content
- Communicate with agencies to develop ideas or provide guidance in both asset and brand development
- Provide and extra set of hands when needed due to large asset deliveries
- When possible: develop personal and professional goals with each team member that directly benefits the department
- Provide “stretch assignments” to help grow a designer’s capabilities
- First line of defense for equipment or tech issues (problem solving to make sure the work can still get done)
- Negotiate timelines with account/partners
- Teach new techniques and pass on knowledge of programs to more junior team members, and provide a space to share knowledge
- Provide expert knowledge of best practices for print, vendors, legal issues including fonts and character art
- Create, maintain, and enforce the brand guidelines for ABK and Activision
PLAYER PROFILE
- Online portfolio, highlighting your direct contributions. Submissions without a portfolio will not be considered. At least 5-7 years of relevant industry experience.
- Proficient with industry standard design tools (e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign). After Effects knowledge is a big plus.
- Problem-solving skills and familiarity with technical constraints and limitations as they apply to designing for digital outputs.
- Ability to articulate design challenges and design process.
- Proactive, self-motivated, able to prioritize and manage workload and meet project deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build good working relationships and mentor more junior team members.
- Hungry to learn and grow.
- Interest and experience in the fast-paced world of UA, social media and/or mobile gaming is a plus.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary product teams (motion, interaction, Video, 3D) on technical implementation.
- Experience working with tools such as Adobe Creative Suite.
- Experience creating and implementing visual design systems.
- Great at brainstorming, taking direction, collaborating and being part of a team.
- Portfolio highlighting multiple projects and your direct contributions.
Preferred qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience designing in an agency or an in-house creative team.
- Experience in leading and communicating conceptual ideas and design rationale.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, and familiarity with technical constraints and limitations as they apply to design for digital media and print.
- Should be able to provide sketches to communicate their concept to the Design Lead and Creative Director.
- Excellent visual design skills and ability create pixel-perfect designs, and prototypes.
- Experience working with 3D software e.g. Cinema 4D or Maya.
- Ability to create high quality key art.
