With over 40 million downloads, three subscription services, 35 apps and a line of physical toys, Sago Mini brings thoughtful design to life for preschoolers and parents worldwide.
Proudly Canadian, Sago Mini is a subsidiary of Toca Boca, the No.1 mobile-first kids brand in the App Store. Both companies are part of Spin Master, a leading global children’s entertainment company.
Sago Mini is currently going through a phase of growth and is looking for a Talent Acquisition Manager to lead all recruitment and selection activities for the organization, while concurrently messaging and marketing a strong external employer brand that attracts top talent.
What you will do:
- Develop a deep understanding of our workplace, business and culture; there is something really special about the people at Sago Mini that guides our work and continues to make our business successful. The first priority for our new Talent Acquisition Manager will be to quickly develop an understanding of the elements that make us a great place to work. It is through this knowledge of our business ethos that you will be able to successfully help recruit and select new team members as well as market an employee experience that is truly reflective of our organization.
- Champion our recruitment and selection process; you will work with our team to evaluate and improve our current recruitment and selection process from start to finish. Rooting your suggestions in current industry research, DEI philosophies and best practices, you will improve and create a process that attracts, selects and wins top talent in Toronto’s world class digital, tech and design industries. You will work closely with the hiring managers to guide them through the entire process, from the first interview to the close and guide them through thinking around orientation and onboarding. Everyone will look to your expertise to guide them through every step of the recruitment and selection process.
- Execute on all aspects of recruitment and selection; from partnering with hiring managers to write attractive job postings, spending hours screening through thousands of resumes, keeping copious notes about candidates through each interview phase, compiling score-cards, booking interviews, checking references and making offers - you will do it all. The ultimate measure of success is filling the open roles Sago Mini requires with amazing candidates across full-time, part-time, contract and internship roles.
- Amplify and create an external employer presence; Sago Mini is an incredible place to work and your job will be to make sure future talent knows it. Whether it is updating our careers and LinkedIn pages, developing an ongoing presence in communities where potential future hires might come from, attending meetups or building relationships with external partners (like universities and colleges); you will create a well known external brand that reflects our incredible work culture and team.
- Partner with management to support the long-term business strategy; you will work closely with the management team to understand the ways in which the company is growing and how your role can help Sago Mini achieve its goals. You will review staffing and team needs and strategize for anticipated growth or attrition. With an eye to the future, you will advise on industry trends for compensation and benefits. You will also help build out long-term skill and role definitions that clarify recruitment and selection needs moving forward.
Who you are:
- Passionate about thoughtful design; you love thoughtfully crafted processes, products and everything in between. You realize the impact a good hire can have on an organization and are incredibly thoughtful about each and every step in the recruitment and selection process. Everything you touch is handled with care, passion and intention.
- Approach problem solving in a playful manner; you are willing to think differently about how to problem-solve. You don’t rely on old models to solve problems as they arise, instead you willingly explore and create something new that no one has tried before.
- Willing to step in and get projects across the line; not only are you an organizer but you are a do-er. You enjoy the hustle of recruiting and want to help bring your expertise and skills to a great organization. You don’t believe any task is too small or too large. As this company continues to grow, they will need you to help keep the wheels turning and going the extra mile.
- A humble collaborator; you will be constantly working with various hiring managers and employees at Sago Mini. You realize the importance of collaboration and having open lines of communication to foster innovation. You appreciate that the people you interact with have as much to teach you as you have to share with them.
- Someone with high-standards; there is a lot of administrative work to keep track of at all times and nothing slips by you. You have a pulse on the goings-on within the realm of recruitment and know where resourcing stands at all times. You take pride in your work and everything you touch is executed with the highest of standards.
Why work with us:
From playtesting to idea jams, and show and shares, our work is built for kids by kids at heart. Our work culture strikes the right balance of exploring, collaboration, fun and high-quality execution. Reporting to our VP of Operations, you will be joining an incredible team that values your support and knowledge. On top of a great salary (75-80k), you will have three weeks of vacation and access to our robust benefits plan. Our whole office is currently working remotely, however our hope is to return to the office (based in downtown Toronto), in a hybrid working model as soon as possible.
How to apply:
We welcome and encourage applications from people with disabilities. Accommodations are available upon request for candidates taking part in all aspects of the selection process.
We look forward to hearing from you!
