Striking Distance Studios continues to grow. We are looking for talented developers with experience working on large-scale, live service games to join us in our San Ramon studio.
What we need:
Striking Distance Studios is looking for an experienced Systems Designer to help create a next generation AAA experience in the PUBG Universe. Systems designers are constantly thinking about and tinkering with the rules and interactions of systems and are adept at finding the fun in exciting new and emergent ways.
Responsibilities:
- Design, document and prototype systems, mechanics, and gameplay features.
- Work with Leads, Animators, Designers and Engineers to create compelling and engaging game mechanics, compulsion loops, and systems.
- Collaborate with team to ensure highest level of quality and to guarantee visibility and alignment.
- Fully document your design for Engineers, Designers, and Animators.
- Creatively solve system conflicts and troubleshoot technical limitations.
- Balance and tune mechanics to ensure the highest level of player engagement.
- Innovate systems, simplify and adjust to ensure a highly accessible game.
- Communicate with Production to ensure all deadlines are met.
- Use research and player feedback to guide gameplay balance and tuning in an ongoing capacity to ensure the highest levels of player engagement.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 4+ years designing AAA quality systems and mechanics.
- A strong understanding of design principals and systems design.
- Experience working in modern game engines (UE4 preferred, not required)
- A passion and hunger to make the best games.
