Overview
Jagex Ltd, the UK's largest developer and publisher of online games, is looking for a talented Submission & Release Manager to join our Game Operations team.
To act as the subject matter expert for the company in submitting and releasing product updates on Mobile, PC (Steam/ Epic), and Console platforms. You should have the ability to work with multiple disciplines to deliver a product bundle that can be shipped. You will also be asked to research into new markets and platforms that the company shows an interest in, to ensure we understand submission processes, costs and risks.
You will be expected to understand platform Compliance (Mobile, PC, Console) and help product owners build these requirements into their roadmaps.
Through direct line management of Publishing QA, you will also oversee functional and compliance testing of third party products.
Reports to the Director of QA.
Key Duties:
- Drive submission and release best practice with game teams across all platforms.
- Provide clear and concise information to stakeholders and leadership team to reduce risks around scheduled dates.
- Measure the quality of releases e.g. app ratings, store reviews, crashlytics.
- Work closely with the other support partners like Marketing, CM, and Localisation.
- Actioning the submission and release of updates via the relevant platform portals.
- Managing and actioning platform admin requests e.g. access to financial or marketing data.
- Examples of tasks include:
o Work closely with QA teams on maximising their use of platform test channels e.g. Testflight.
o Managing Apple Push Notification Service (APNS) certificates.
o Creation and editing of In-App Purchases (IAP) on all platforms.
o Managing additions and changes to metadata items on platform stores e.g. What’s New.
o Platform account access requests.
o Managing provisioning profiles and development certificates.
o Processing leavers on 3rd party portals.
- Maintaining an archive of submitted release data.
- Identify and track the latest platform changes and ensure relevant teams are informed e.g. loot box compliance changes.
- Understand and highlight risks around new platform developments and work with the team to ensure they do not impact the products’ current and future versions.
- Be able to post-mortem submissions that experienced issues and use the information to create new checks to ensure that issues don’t repeat.
- First-line support between Jagex and platform holders on questions or rejections.
- Works with the Publishing team to plan our featuring opportunities, ensure we are on track.
- Work closely with QA teams on maximising their use of platform test channels e.g. Testflight.
- Project manage our public testing using beta servers.
Essential Skills
- Be comfortable working and coordinating with teams across multiple disciplines.
- Be able to create and update documentation that can be used by all game teams to solve common submission problems.
- Previous experience in functional Games QA at least to Senior level.
- Experience with Console Certification processes.
- Active participation in meetings to discuss the latest platform changes and company roadmap updates.
- Be able to highlight improvements to the release process and drive discussion within the company.
- Excellent understanding of mobile ecosystems/ excellent understanding of mobile developer platforms.
- Knowledgeable of Perforce, Bamboo and command-line interfaces e.g. fastlane.
- Knowledgeable about Compliance on the latest consoles.
Desirable Skills:
- Intermediate scripting ability in Ruby or Python.
- Comfortable in acting as first-line support for build problems e.g. issues with XCode updates.
- First-hand use of the Fastlane suite of tools.
- First-hand experience in dealing when platform review teams.
- Awareness of DevOps best practises.
- Expert JIRA user including custom JQL queries.
- Awareness of data visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau.
