Welcome to Timbre!

We are Timbre Games (part of the Sumo Digital Group), a new studio in Vancouver, Canada focused on making exciting, innovative game experiences. Timbre’s vision is to change the games industry through the original games we make, as well as how we make them. We’re building an inclusive, supportive culture that allows us to explore fresh, new (and sometimes weird) ideas. We’re searching for more visionary explorers to join our team of diverse voices, coming together to develop games that are accessible to a wide audience.

If you’re thinking about your next adventure, send us your resume to talk to our team about how you can add your voice to the games we’re working on.

Art at Timbre Games

We are visionaries, sculptors, painters and landscapers of virtual worlds. Together, we breathe life into creative concepts and ideas while defining experiences and quality. We collaborate with multiple departments to establish our vision, and absolutely light up as we watch it all come together. We are utilizing advanced tools and technologies to shape our vision of building diverse and accessible AAA games.

Timbre’s Technical Art Director stewards the tech art team for our current and future projects, guiding the department in ways that will help Timbre realize its goal of bringing distinct, stylized visuals to life on the highest production quality console titles. You will also bring empowerment and mentorship to our Technical Art team, using collaboration, inclusion, mentorship and fun, inspiring everyone toward beautifully crafted, stylized worlds and characters. Tech art is the glue between engineering and art, and you’ll be instrumental in helping us grow a highly collaborative tech art team!

As a Technical Art Director at Timbre Games, you are the steward of the Technical Art roadmap. Through research, experimentation and innovation, you are going to be steering the Technical Art direction for an up and coming studio with a unique art style. You’ll work closely with studio leadership to pioneer Timbre’s Technical Art efforts and push us to the limits of technology, ensuring our player’s feel the magic behind the tools you evangelize.

You know that as a Technical Art Director, communication is your greatest tool. You embody a service-oriented approach to development, listening to the pain-points of your production teams and coming up with solutions before problems arise! Empowerment and enablement of the diverse team you work with brings you great fulfilment and you are able to inspire your team around a common goal.

You believe the best ideas don’t belong to one person, that a collaborative team is more powerful than any one person’s idea. You are experienced in how to bring together that team to extract those ideas. Working in silo’s doesn’t mesh with your philosophy, and you utilize a variety of methods to convey the roadmap to Artists, Engineers and everyone at the studio, including leadership and external partners.
