Studio Operations Manager

Paradox Interactive is looking for a head of operations for its newest Grand Strategy studio in Barcelona, Spain, to help build and run our new grand strategy studio. At the new studio you will, together with the Studio Manager, have the opportunity to build a new game studio that will continue to grow and develop the Europa Universalis game and the grand strategy genre as a whole.
About the studio
The new Paradox Barcelona studio is the latest addition to the Paradox studio family; building on our experience of building Paradox Development Studio and developing great Grand Strategy games. In the future, the studio will be the custodian and developer of the Europa Universalis brand, the game that started it all twenty years ago.
At the Paradox Barcelona studio we work in a small, gameplay focused team, where everyone is part of crafting the player experience and has an input on the design of the game. We believe that game development should be fun and strive for a relaxed, stress-free atmosphere. Being a small studio built from the ground up, we expect everyone to contribute to the development of the studio and its culture; as one of the original members, you will have a significant impact on what the studio grows up to become.
About the role
As the operations manager you will be responsible for building and running the studio operations. Working closely with the studio manager you will be responsible for turning the vision of the studio into a team and an organization that can deliver awesome games. You will support that team and studio, fostering a healthy and creative company culture, making sure all the things required for a successful business are in place to ensure success.
Responsibilities :
- Building and maintaining a business plan to deliver on the vision and expectations for the studio, set by Studio Manager and Paradox Interactive.
- Building the organization and processes that can deliver on the games and the business plan.
- Responsible for Staff & HR for the studio.
- Responsible for Studio culture & work environment.
- Together with the studio manager, define the needs of the organisation when it comes to staffing and skills.
- Responsible for Budget & Forecasting for the studio.
- Ensuring the smooth running of the organisation by making sure everything from office to IT is set up properly.
Qualifications
- 3+ years experience in senior management role (Ex-small business owners are also welcome to apply)
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken
- Understanding of business functions such as HR, Finance, IT & Proc, Marketing etc
- Working knowledge of IT/Business infrastructure
- Speaking Spanish or Catalan is considered an advantage
- Experience in running a business in Spain is considered an advantage
- Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics is considered an advantage
