Studio Manager

The studio manager will be responsible for managing the daily operations of Pokémon’s in-house live action video production studio. The studio manager is responsible for managing production schedules, maintaining studio gear, setting up shoots, hiring and managing crew and vendors and helping establish studio processes and procedures. They will also work with internal stakeholders to establish and maintain the studio’s technical infrastructure including video archiving, storage, and distribution.

The ideal candidate is a self-motivated and detail-oriented individual with strong video production and project management capabilities. They are also well versed in lighting, camera, and audio production.

What You Will Do

• Create and maintain shoot schedules and budgets, securing approvals, coordinating action items, and communicating cross-functionally with producers from development through post-production.
• Communicate with internal and external teams effectively to ensure expectations are set and all deliverables are met on schedule.
• Ability to make sound decisions, think strategically, problem solve, multi-task while remaining laser focused on the fine details.
• Initiate vendor paperwork (including NDAs, requests for new contracts, new vendor paperwork, advance requests, etc.) and manage invoice process.

• Maintain functionality of production studio, control room, green rooms, and equipment rooms for daily use.
• Develop a system for tracking and managing video, lighting, audio and live streaming equipment inventory/database.
• Maintaining all equipment within the studio, including establishing a schedule for regular maintenance, managing repairs, ordering replacements, and overseeing upgrades of studio equipment.

• Performed basic maintenance and diagnostics on a range of camera and lighting equipment.
• Manage shipments of remote production kits for domestic and international shoots.

• Source, coordinate, and negotiate rates for production resources, including equipment, permits, locations, travel, etc.
• Act as production manager on larger scale productions, both in-studio and on location.
• Serve as a videographer for smaller scale productions including running sound, adjusting lighting and operating cameras.
• Organize and implement process for studio digital infrastructure such as video archiving, retention, file storage, etc.
• Server as a TD on studio live streams including live switching.

What You Will Bring

• BA/BS in Film, Communications, Business; or equivalent experience.
• 5 – 7years relevant experience; previous studio experience, both managerial and technical, preferred.
• Expertise in scheduling and administrative workflows related to video production.
• Excellent organizational skills and can-do attitude.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to recognize issues, identify solutions and implement action plans.
• Familiar working with rental houses.
• Experience with Sony Professional cameras, Sennheiser audio equipment and studio lighting equipment.
• Experience building ongoing working relationships with DP’s, camera operators, sound mixers, gaffers, set designers etc.
• Proficiency in Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint
• Familiarity with livestream workflows and tools including live switching, Teradek and Wirecast.
• Knowledge of the Seattle film community, Adobe Creative Suite, Pokémon games/brand and animation and video editorial skills a plus

What to Expect

We offer a professional, fun and creative work environment. While we maintain a good balance between work and life, additional hours may be required at peak times or for specific initiatives. Early morning hours (approximately 8am start) will be required 15-25% of the time to facilitate meetings with European time zones. Travel between office locations internationally will be required on occasion, approximately 10% of the time.
