We are looking for someone like you to become our all-new Studio Lead QA and join our passionate and talented Rebellion North team, where we are building on the years of success that Rebellion has enjoyed.
Studio Lead QA role:
The Studio Lead QA is a new role dedicated to ensuring the quality of our games to an industry-leading standard. You will make sure that we as a team can continue to uphold best practices while maintaining maximum efficiency on our exciting upcoming projects. As part of the QA team, you will play a key role in helping to shape the future of the department going forward.
This role would suit someone who has prior experience in a gaming studio and is technically astute.
The Rebellion North QA team are responsible for guaranteeing a high level of quality for all projects, and identifying problems early in the process.
Key Outcomes:
- Oversee the operation of a team of QA Analysts
- Implementing potential opportunities to enhance and improve general operation and testing processes
- Assist the QA team in performing all testing responsibilities as requested by project leads
Responsibilities
- Oversee the operation of a team of QA Analysts with best practice people management techniques
- Proactively manage your team’s performance and professional development through performance review cycles giving constructive, actionable, relevant feedback
- Day to day coordination of onsite QA team across multiple projects and platforms
- Work closely with production to determine where testing should be focused and highlight any testing problems or concerns
- Communicate and work with directly with developers to ensure that the most relevant information is provided for fixing issues
- Identifying and solving potential problems of your onsite QA team, and implementing potential opportunities to enhance and improve general operation and testing processes
- Creating and maintaining relevant spaces for QA on confluence in order to ensure that the team has easy access to all information required to for smooth operation
- Be an active mentor and role model for the QA team. Work to maintain morale and create an atmosphere of enthusiasm
- Report to leadership about the general status of your onsite QA team in a concise and accurate manner
- Assist with training and on boarding new members of the team
- Monitor, distribute, and make requests concerning hardware and software for the onsite QA team

Requirements
- Expert knowledge and understanding of game testing models
- Expert knowledge and understanding of bug testing and tracking software (JIRA, Devtrack)
- Expert knowledge and understanding of the video game development process
- Able to apply an understanding of the games industry to improve effectiveness of teams and projects
- Able to focus on own professional development and able to mentor individuals to develop skills and knowledge
- Able to develop resolutions to unusually challenging problems and mentor individuals and teams to solve problems creatively
- Able to evaluate or judge the best course of action
- Able to analyse data and issues whilst generating ideas through original thought
- Able to complete work with high level of autonomy
- Able to respond and adapt to changing circumstances to get the best results in a climate of ambiguity
- Able to plan and prioritise work. Balancing resources, skills, priorities and timescales to achieve objectives
- Able to give and gather information to effectively communicate information and exert influence. Whilst building long-term, trusting relationships with a wide range of people and building trust within multiple teams
- Understanding and execution of common current gen compliance test cases (TRC/XR/Lotchecks)
- Knowledge of best practice people management
- Know how to effectively manage and communicate with outsourcing teams
- Able to focus individuals and teams to achieve a specific outcome to drive performance
Please note, this is an onsite role and therefore remote working is not possible for this role. Candidates should only apply if they are available to be on site 100% of the time.
