Storage/Virtualization Engineer
Epic’s IT Engineering Team is looking for a storage and virtualization engineer who is detail-oriented, passionate about new technologies, and who flourishes in high-pressure environments. This role focuses on developing, deploying, and maintaining a hybrid cloud virtualization environment and storage infrastructure within Epic IT.
Responsibilities:
- Supporting the installation, optimization, troubleshooting, and maintenance of VMware, vSphere, ESXi and related services
- Supporting a multi-vendor storage environment including SAN technologies such as NetApp, OpenDrives
- Supporting multi-site NAS technologies in hybrid cloud environments
- Assisting with planning, execution, and control of project-related tasks and activities
- Providing technical support, troubleshooting, and complex problem resolution on issues related to environment performance and stability
- Respond to reactive/break-fix type issues
- Act as an escalation point with Support and Operations teams and provide training where necessary
- Ensuring operating environments stay safe and secure
- Define software and hardware update lifecycles
- Participating and assisting with 24x7 support of the environment
Qualifications:
- 5-10 years of experience supporting VMWare, VSphere, NetApp in both on premise and cloud environments
- 3-5 years of experience using infrastructure as code approaches (SCM/Git, Packer, Terraform, Anisible, Chef, or Salt, and leveraging CI/CD systems to get work done)
- Experience with all major operating systems (Windows, Linux, IOS, ONTAP)
- Experience with maintaining hybrid services within cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Compute)
- Expertise with file systems protocols: SMB, NFS, iSCSI
Preference for candidates with
- Proficiency with Python
- Advanced usage of Ansible, such as roles, requirements, and setting up transportable environments with the use of pyenv/pipenv
- Familiarity with Terraform and creating modules, building local and cloud infrastructure
- Experience with complex Jenkins pipelines tying together Terraform and Ansible, along with gates and user inputs
