This is a fast paced, high-visibility engineering position with SIE’s Payment Platform Engineering organization. You will be helping to establish a linear scale, highly available, fault-tolerant, globally distributed payment services platform. This next generation payment platform will support the fast growing Global SIE customer base, world-class PlayStation consoles, hand-held devices, and network entertainment services such as PlayStation Now. This key role will help lead the technology transformation of the network services platform, including existing and new services supporting the dramatic customer growth on the platform.
You will design highly scalable systems, develop distributed services, collaborate with product managers, architects, engineers, and operations team members across PlayStation while building solid payment platform solutions. We work in a fast-paced environment, using lightweight SOA design patterns. We encourage innovation and expect developers to have a high level of ownership throughout the software life cycle. Qualifications:
- BS or Master’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of experience in developing business critical software using Enterprise Java/J2EE, Web Services, REST, JSON/XML, SQL/NoSQL data layers.
- Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL programming, including both relational database schemas and schema-less systems.
- Experience deploying, monitoring, operating, and optimizing high performance, active-active, linearly scalable, enterprise level web services and databases in AWS or other cloud environment.
- Experience measuring, predicting, and improving the performance of enterprise level databases.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and remove issues that could impact reliability, performance and scalability.
- Proficient in software development process, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, CICD, testing, and operations.
- Possess deep knowledge of computer science fundamentals such as object oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis.
- Experience developing applications on Unix/Linux platforms.
- Experience with servlet containers (e.g., Tomcat), JAXRS, Spring, and related technologies.
Preferred:
- Hands-on experience in Amazon Web Services, including familiarity with Lambda, EKS, DynamoDB, Aurora, EC2, and other AWS services.
- Experience with micro service architecture.
- Experience in requirements engineering, describing software product features, and technical designs.
- Proven ability to take a project from prioritization of requirements to actual launch of project.
- Experience with an e-commerce company or Payments software.
