Sr. Software Engineer (DevOps) - Central Tech: Developer Connections

Developer Connections (DevCon) connects developers around the globe allowing them to quickly and consistently ship awesome games. We sit at the intersection of the Game Teams, E-Sports, Riot Entertainment, and R&D, allowing us to keep our fingers on the pulse of development at Riot. Our mission is to empower and unblock teams so they can hit milestones for launching future games.

As a DevCon engineer focused on client build, you’ll measure your success in how quickly and reliably game developers are able to see their features in games across all of Riot. You’ll work with each game’s build teams to identify common challenges which should be tackled centrally. Each feature you build will solve an immediate need but over time they will form the backbone of a build-as-a-service platform that abstracts increasing larger pieces of the build puzzle away.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with teammates to create shared build platform features for our customers (e.g. LoL, VALORANT, R&D) through infrastructure-as-code and configuration management efforts
• Define requirements for infrastructure automation and dependency management, work with DevCon’s Client Delivery team to ensure delivery.
• Contribute to cross-team architectural designs and standards on build and automation, and implement relevant tools, workflows, processes and systems
• Collaborate with teams throughout Riot to leverage their expertise and solutions, and help shape the technical direction of Riot’s shared game development ecosystem

Required Qualifications:

• 4+ years of professional experience as a Software Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or Systems Engineer
• BS in Computer Science or related field
• 2+ years of experience with configuration management and infrastructure-as-code technologies (e.g. Packer, Ansible, Terraform)
• 2+ years experience with a scripting language (e.g. Python, Ruby, Bash)

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience with technical development in the CI/CD space
• Experience with a broad range of Build & Automation technologies and programming languages (e.g. Jenkins)
• Experience working with Unreal Engine, including the Build & Automation parts (UGS, UBT, Gauntlet, etc.)
• Experience with cross-platform CI/CD (incl. console)
• Experience collaborating across multiple teams
• Experience with many of the tools in a game developer’s toolbox, and the curiosity and desire to learn even more of them.
