Position Summary
Join the studio as our newest Staff/Payroll Accountant! Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Staff Accountant will be responsible for processing full cycle Accounts Payable, semi-monthly payroll, and assisting with month-end close, annual audits and other projects as they arise. This role will start as a 6 month role with potential ability to extend full time.
Essential Duties
- Process semi-monthly payroll
- Process AP invoices, check requests, purchase requests, expense reports
- Review credit card expense reports; receipts, credit card statements
- Perform semi-monthly AP ACH/check/wire runs
- Respond to vendor and employee inquiries
- Assist with month-end and year-end close
- Preparation of journal entries, monthly accruals, balance sheet and bank reconciliations
- Assist with annual financial audit
- Process annual Form 1099-Misc and Form 1096
- Provide benefits administration support as needed
- Compile and manage all information for Department of Labor, Worker’s Comp and 5500 audits
- Provide support and assistance with audits, tax returns, budgets and forecasting as needed
- Ensure proper filing and storage of all AP documentation
- Maintain AP and payroll policies, and process procedures manual
- Assist other team members to accomplish department goals and objectives
- Assist in implementing and following the controls required to achieve SOX 404 compliance
- Provide support on special projects and ad hoc analysis
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 3+ years of experience with Accounts Payable, general ledger, month-end close
- 3+ years of experience processing payroll for 250+ employees preferred
- Must have prior Payroll experience
- Including non-exempt and multi-state experience
- Understand usage of proper payroll taxation of employer paid benefits
- Namely Payroll experience is a plus (not a must)
- Ability to work independently to achieve objectives in established time frames.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel (Ex: vLookups, Pivot tables) and Word
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills and ability to perform multitasked assignments.
