Staff Accountant

Discord is looking for a full-time Staff Accountant to be an integral part of our small and efficient finance team. Your efforts will be critical in keeping financials on point for our entire staff. They'll love you for it.

As a Discord Accountant, you should demonstrate proven experience in all aspects of daily accounting processes, accounts payable, general ledger, month-end close, as well as financial statement preparation. Our ideal candidate has strong communication skills and superb attention to detail -- superb enough to have noticed the spelling mistake in the first paragraph.

What you'll be doing

• Assist in preparing month-end journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting schedules
• Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and operation procedures
• Manage weekly AP processes
• Process employee expense reports and corporate credit card reconciliation
• Payroll review and accounting
• In partnership with marketing and the other members of the finance team, assist with partner contracts and new vendor setup packages
• Assist in preparation and timely filing of all required tax returns and other statutory filings

What you should have

• Team player and solid communicator (written and verbal skills); strong interpersonal skills including flexibility, and dependability; ability to maintain confidentiality
• Positive, energetic, optimistic attitude with a willingness to roll up your sleeves
• College degree with a BS in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 2- 4 years of progressive experience in Accounting
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP
• Sage Intacct experience preferred
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel and Word)
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize and adhere to tight deadlines
• Precision/detail oriented with strong analytical skills
• Proven ability to identify and drive process/system improvements

• Experience with ADP, Zenefits, Ubiquity and Expensify
• CPA Candidate preferred
