Sr. Tools Engineer - Pipeline
Who We Are:
Mass Media is the premier engineering group for 2K Publishing’s Global Services. Since 1995, we’ve developed deep and varied engineering expertise in the video game industry. Whether its platform optimization, multiplayer/networking, rendering, console certification, tools and pipelines - we’ve done it all. As part of 2K, we’ve contributed to most major titles in the past 5 years including Evolve, Mafia, XCOM, Borderlands, BioShock, and more.
Because we are a part of 2K’s Global Services, we are at the heart of all our games. We provide the engineering to support the matrix of platforms and storefronts of today, innovative technical solutions to the problems of tomorrow, and the connective tissue across the 2K studios. In short, when some of the best studios in the world have needs, we can answer the call.
What We Need:
- We’re looking for an experienced Senior Engineer with a strong sense of software architecture to help develop centralized, internal dev tools that can slot into existing, mature studio pipelines
- An engineer that loves to build software no matter the language or stack – whether it’s artist-focused tools in packages such as Maya or Unreal; Web systems to facilitate distributed build deployment; or anything in between.
- An individual that can interface with studio representatives and help proactively identify common technical needs and industry content creation trends
- Most importantly, we’re looking for a team player with strong integrity, interpersonal, and organizational skills to navigate our fast-paced environment and offer creative and technical solutions to all of our development teams.
What You Will Do:
- Design and develop new, and maintain existing systems, software, and tools to support the creation of games across our studios and labels.
- Manage, lead, and drive engineering efforts with external vendors.
- Consult with game teams to assess technical requirements, identify key stakeholders, and help with integration of our code into their pipelines.
- Participate in project planning, early stage estimation, and technical breakdown of a project into component epics/stories
- Participate in architectural decisions and perform code reviews across a variety of languages (C#, C++, Python, Ruby) and applications.
- Work in a mixed internal, distributed, and outsourced team.
What You Bring:
- Experience and/or knowledge of VFX/Game/Feature Animation content creation pipelines on multiple shipped titles/shows.
- Proficiency programming/scripting in at least one content creation tool such as Maya. Experience with said package’s C++ API is a bonus.
- Hands on familiarity with commercial game engines (such as UE4 or Unity)
- Sound grasp of object-oriented programming, design and engineering best practices.
- A love for building software that enables others to increase productivity and efficiency.
Bonus Items:
- Experience with common web frameworks such as Django, React, or .NET.
- Experience with AI/Machine Learning frameworks (e.g. PyTorch or TensorFlow)
