Position Purpose
Pipeworks Studios seeks a highly motivated Technical Artist to work with the Studio Art Director in supporting various projects on their technical art needs .
Essential J ob Functions
- Create technical solutions for visual and pipeline issues
- Write scripts to implement new features and fix bugs
- Setup c haracter rigs
- Work to connect the art and engineering efforts
Qualifications/Skills Sets
- Working knowledge of Maya, specifically the ability to create custom script tools (MEL / Python) that streamline artist workflow and/or increase efficiency
- Unity experience is a must; Unreal familiarity a benefit
- Ability to rig/weight characters in Maya
- S trong understanding of art pipelines and tool creation
- Understanding of "artistic concepts", e.g. modeling, lighting, shading, and animation
- Ability to assess occasional contradictory technical and artistic needs and provide creative compromise s
- Working knowledge of C# and Python/MEL required
- Overall attention to detail, both visually and technically
- Strong interest in the industry and a desire to make games
- Ability to work as part of a game team
- Understanding of 3D art and 2D art
- Strong ability to manage other technical artists and partner with engineers
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with C++ or other high-level languages
- General knowledge of programmable shaders
Demonstrated Ability To
- Work in a n organized way in a studio with multiple projects at a given time
- Work effectively with other artists and engineers to achieve project goals
- Solve problems to the benefit of the project/team
Education & Experience Required
- Any degree or certification in both Art and Engineering or equivalent work experience . At least 5 years of experience in a similar role.

Candidate should provide portfolio of tech art samples that they have created for projects and a resume detailing the projects/studios that they have been a part of.
