Sr. Software Engineer - Developer Connections

Developer Connections ensures that developers are free to innovate for players while not reinventing the wheel. It does this by building Riot-wide technologies and standards that optimize the entire software development lifecycle. We take poorly owned spaces and turn them into first class offerings. We work alongside engineers, artists, producers, security, and publishers to understand their day-to-day challenges and craft solutions to make their lives better in ways both big and small.

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to contribute to DevCon’s efforts:

• As a Senior Software Engineer you will be deeply challenged to learn a large breadth of architecture at Riot.
• You will be supporting other teams who use our services, ensuring they have all the tools they need to develop and deliver games.
• Design, develop and deployment of new and upgraded services for DevCon and the rest of Riot.

In this role, you will work with your fellow engineers and product leaders to assess the technical needs of Riot’s game and technology teams and help deliver a solution to those needs. Your work will help the quality and delivery of Riot’s products for players all across the world.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain and evolve Riot’s technical understanding of its multifaceted technical architectures
• Ensure Riot central technology teams have the necessary vision into how our live services are performing
• Establish meaningful, long lived, standards across multiple technical stacks
• Provide emergent, critical support and maintenance to existing platforms
• Provide meaningful code review for other members of the team
• Produce comprehensive user documentation around your implemented solutions

Required Qualifications:

• 3+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience with designing, prioritizing and maintaining high-capacity, high-availability, and high-performant software, especially back-end services
• Demonstrated experience working in container-based ecosystems and with a container scheduler (e.g. Marathon, Mesos, Kubernetes, GKE, Amazon ECS)
• Experience with distributed systems, specifically microservices
• Experience with API design, preferably using REST
• Understand relational databases like MySQL

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience building high-quality software in languages like Go, Java, Python, or Javascript
• Understand software performance and influence latency in online games
• Experience with AWS (or comparable cloud environments)
