Sr. Security Engineer, Amazon Games

Job summary

Amazon Games is seeking an exceptionally skilled and enthusiastic Sr. Security Engineer to join our team in San Diego. You’ll be a good fit for this role if you can work through high amounts of ambiguity to drive security standards and build mechanisms that continue to make Amazon and its customers safer. You will lead incident response and management, the invention of new security mechanisms, security architecture design, threat modelling, and risk assessment.

Key job responsibilities
• Ensure implementation against AWS Security guidance.
• Facilitate security processes through AWS Security.
• Own security documentation needed for AWS protocols.
• Identify the most pressing security problems that are amenable to automatic detection and work with your team to implement new detection techniques and tools.
• Ensure that detected security issues are treated with a level of urgency that reflects their true risk.
• Investigate security issues and identify opportunities for detecting or preventing similar issues with automation.
• Provide guidance to the Amazon Games community on secure coding and development practices.
• Work with developers to ensure that the automatic detection of security issues fits with overall development practices.
• Identify and drive new initiatives to expand automatic security analysis to find the critical problems of today and the future.

Basic Qualifications

• 6+ years' experience in software security, especially responding to security incidents.
• Bachelors' degree in Computer Science or similar field or equivalent work experience.
• Experience with AWS or similar cloud services

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the Games industry
• Proven success in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior management to collect requirements, describe data modeling decisions and data engineering strategy
• Experience driving security improvements in a large organization
• Solid understanding of source code, what vulnerable code looks like, and how to fix it
• Experience with reverse engineering or vulnerability research
• Knowledge of full life-cycle software engineering practices including coding standards, testing, source control management, and operations
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
