Economy Product Manager
In this integral role as an Economy Product Manager, you'll be instrumental in shaping the economic fabric of a new game situated at the crossroads of strategy and RPG genres. You will craft intricate in-game economic systems by harnessing your expertise in economic modeling and deep understanding of player behavior. Your mission will involve translating player experiences into quantitative models and collaborating closely with a dedicated systems design team. This position offers the chance to meld analytical precision with innovative game design, leaving a lasting imprint on player engagement and game progression.
Qualifications
- A background in a quantitative discipline, be it through professional or academic experience, such as Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, Investment Banking, Consulting, etc.
- Proven experience in modeling game economies using tools like Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel, or similar platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to transform qualitative player experiences into robust quantitative models.
- A solid grasp of systems commonly employed in free-to-play progression schemes.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, capable of modeling intricate systems and forecasting player behaviors.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on conveying complex concepts clearly and concisely.
Nice to Have
- Prior involvement in a live free-to-play RPG or Strategy mobile game, either as a designer or product manager.
- Experience in live operations and monetization, understanding how tuning can influence player spend patterns
Responsibilities
- Economic Modeling: Spearhead the design, development, and refinement of the in-game economy, emphasizing elements like currency, item pricing, player progression, and other associated economic constructs. Collaborate closely with systems designers to ascertain that the economy aligns well with the broader game design objectives.
- Balancing: Ensure the in-game economy is balanced and fun, considering player progression, earning potential, and spending opportunities.
- Data-Driven Insights: Partner with the data analytics team to derive insights from player behaviors and trends. Utilize these insights to make informed adjustments to the in-game economy as warranted.
- Collaboration: Foster a tight-knit working relationship with the systems design team to create a game economy that resonates with the desired player journey and overarching design goals.
- Documentation: Consistently produce and update clear, exhaustive, and insightful design documentation pertinent to the in-game economy, adapting as the game undergoes changes both during its development and post-launch phases.
