The Challenge Ahead
The EA Digital Platform organization is working on delivering the process, tools and self service capability to allow our online service teams to increasingly operate in an structured cloud model. This requires providing industry-leading cloud platform solutions that provide the best experience from development to production for our game engineering partners and other platform teams. Our solutions help EA’s Tech Ops team to manage and scale a broad set of titles and supporting services with outstanding visibility while controlling costs and addressing security requirements.
Product Management helps works with senior leadership to chart the course of new cloud engineering capabilities and important services as they emerge, supporting our teams in high-quality delivery and service operations. As the Sr Manager of Product Management you must bring a level of vision and business awareness to our work. You will be passionate about, and represent the voice and needs of our partners: game publishing teams, platform service teams, and technical operations teams. You will capture engineering needs to our platform services, strategize product positioning, work with the development and operational teams to determine functionality, and guide product launches.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Accountable
You will land the strategic vision for the supporting technology that creates our operational processes (ie. the product), collaborate with the EA Digital Platform Product Management team to ensure this shapes both platform services teams and EA Studios online services.
You will ensure the product meets the requirements for high scale solutions that support the operational need to deploy and monitor outstanding cloud services.
Additionally you will:
- Produce the roadmap for modernizing service operations to common platforms that meet efficiency, scale, and availability requirements of the business.
- Establish continuous improvements to operational workflows lead by data and feedback from workload and operational partners.
- Research trends and market patterns, industry research, and competitor product analysis to establish feature requirements and the product roadmap
- Lead across EA Digital Platform’s product, program, and engineering teams for cross-division programs that center around operational efficiency and engineering productivity.
- Partner with Program Management to transform vision into tactical prioritized projects aligned with customer and our requirements.
- Collaborate with Program Management to communicate progress and status of releases, manage our priorities, escalate and resolve risks or misalignment.
- Work with security and engineering partners to determine and document product security requirements and features.
- Prepare and help implement go-to-market strategies, ensuring successful launch execution, and adoption.
- Manage products through their life cycle: idea, introduction, growth, and ending stages.
- Produce Measurements and use them to guide decision-making about the future of the product.
- Become the go-to knowledge person for cloud engineering capabilities including developing and promoting best practices across the company, mentoring and partnerships to help teams grow and scale through cloud solutions.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
- 8+ demonstrated years in platform product management.
- 4+ years of high scale online services experience.
- Experience leading / building great efficient self-service platform technologies.
- Expertise with cloud engineering components including: container models, service discovery, monitoring and diagnostic tooling, dev chain tooling.
- In-depth cloud engineering insights, risk and technical domain knowledge.
- Understand large-scale platform capabilities and enough technical depth across these capabilities to assess risk and find solutions.
- Understand software development life-cycle principles and online services management.
- Experience working with diverse teams and partner across complex organizations to achieve results.
- Advanced degree with a focus on business or product management, Master’s or MBA preferred.
