2K develops and publishes interactive entertainment globally for console systems, handheld gaming devices and personal computers, including smartphones and tablets. We are proud to publish and support many of today’s most critically acclaimed gaming franchises, including BioShock, Borderlands, NBA 2K, Sid Meier’s Civilization, XCOM and WWE 2K.
What We Need:
The Sr. Manager, Global Licensing is responsible for collaborating with 2K’s Publishing and Development teams to effectively strategize and execute on the company’s inbound and outbound licensing efforts. These broad responsibilities are integral in the company’s revenue and growth targets and include strategic alignment with the Entertainment properties and Sports Leagues we work with as well as other major entertainment licensees and licensors.
What You Will Do:
- Works across multiple 2K Publishing teams and 2K Development studios to effectively manage portions of the companies licensing initiatives and rights management within specific focus areas.
- Negotiates deal terms with talent / licensees across multiple titles within specified program budgets while driving alignment across marketing, commercial, development, legal, finance and executive teams to execute 50+ contracts per year.
- Manages inbound and outbound licensing efforts for the company including:
- Sports & Entertainment Licensing
- Manages key relationships with Licensors and leagues with specific focus on NBA 2K League and other eSports ventures.
- Negotiates property /athlete/celebrity endorsement deals for 2K IP.
- Other General Licensing
- In-game – secures in-game licensing rights for real-world locations, courses, arenas and brands in order for our in-game environments to be authentic as possible.
- Secures rights for various IP to be used in conjunction with in-game development, post-release content and/or marketing initiatives.
Who We Think Will Be a Great Fit:
- 8+ years experience in entertainment licensing or partnership management.
- Experience negotiating entertainment & sports licensing deals, celebrity/athlete contracts and other inbound/outbound licensing initiatives with strong focus on partnership management.
- Previous Esports event & licensing experience.
- Experience working with brand partners, talent agencies and celebrities.
- Strong knowledge of or previous experience working within the video game industry.
- Strong interpersonal skills and proactive ability to maintain relationships and influence/persuade others.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds.
