Sr Manager Game Build & Test

As Senior Manager of Test & Release, you will support the vision of holistic quality ownership for your product. You'll be responsible for an integrated team of QA & SDET Leads & Analysts and Build & Release engineers, to effectively assess and support the development quality needs of assigned products. You are a strategic and experienced-driven leader, you'll maintain a culture of growth rooted in learning, strong mentorship, and coaching.

As the Studio continues to evolve and grow, your teams will play an essential role in ensuring that the design, creative and technical efforts of an extraordinarily hardworking group of developers is consistently delivered to players at the quality and dependability bar set by studio and product leadership.

Responsibilities

Game Quality Assurance

• Directly lead Publishing QA, Game QA (Functional & SDET) and Build/Release Teams
• Evolve studio wide metrics to measure and improve game performance and test effectiveness over time
• Drive identification, trial, and adoption of new tools and techniques that improve efficiency and streamline test efforts

Build & Release:

• Directly oversee Build & Release Teams for internally developed WOTC games
• Supervise scheduling, coordination, build and delivery of releases across multiple platforms and products
• Develop and drive execution of studio build & release processes and tools
• Work with build Leads, senior production, QA and Engineering to develop integrated LiveOps release strategies to ensure correct build execution, and facilitate resolution of build failures

Leadership/Management

• Increase visibility for studio test and release practices as a value multiplier for WOTC
• Quarterly studio-wide planning and forecasting (review/adjust headcount allocations and budgets based on game needs and overall business priorities)
• Hire, mentor, and handle leads and oversee hiring of senior staff
• Develop succession plans, lead risk, and identify growth opportunities for future leaders
• Promote the development and adoption of repeatable processes and standard methodologies, partnering with Design and product leadership to incorporate test and release culture into the entire development process

Qualifications:

• 10+ years overall experience in AAA Game Development across a combination of test, build and release
• 5+ years running a QA team that has shipped multiple AAA console and/or PC game titles
• 3+ years’ experience supporting online services for console and PC game titles as build and release lead or manager
• Experience in the development and operation of LiveOps GaaS products for large high-profile games

Qualities

• Technical orientation and a strong understanding of software development
• Understanding of technical constraints and budgets in game development and validated ability to work within them
• A solution-oriented change agent accustomed to accountability and driving improvement within teams, with examples to share outlining improved team dynamics and performance within diverse environments
• A motivational leader who can “rally the troops” and seize opportunities through improved communication and organization

Strong pluses

• Bachelor's in computer science and/or management
• Experience with launch & operation of free-to-play games
• Experience with launch & operation of Multiplayer Online games
