NCSoft West is hiring a Sr Manager to lead the data team for our storied game studio ArenaNet; this is a leadership position that will work closely with the heads of the studio to help push them into the future by creating an insights-led ecosystem and empowering the designers and developers to meet the players’ needs as best possible.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Lead the data team for ArenaNet with a heavy focus on Guild Wars 2, ensuring that the development team has a best-in-class self-serve BI environment, while helping to build up an insights-driven ecosystem that will aid delivering the player the best experience possible
- Collaborate with development team leaders to build a data and insights roadmap that will help answer questions about the upcoming development of GW2 and lay the foundation for insights empowering the future of the franchise
- Build user-stories to represent various personas on the game team and work towards their fulfillment by partnering with central tech to set the roadmap on data product development
- Identify and propose areas where data can be utilized better and seek out ways to bolster the knowledge of the game team via data capabilities
- Jump in and help deliver the data products themselves via aiding your team in statistical modeling and development of the self-serve BI environment
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL
- Strong understanding of SQL and Python, and familiarity with AWS and common data visualization toolsets
- Knowledge of basic statistical ideas; is not necessarily a data scientist, but can play one on TV
- Excellent problem-solving capability and associated record of accomplishment
- 8+ years of experience in the data and data insights space
- Bachelor's in computer science, Mathematics, or similar field, with master's preferred (or equivalent experience)
- 4+ years managing a team of data personnel
- Demonstrated history of supporting an ongoing live service
- Demonstrated history of collaboration, especially in a creative setting
- Excellent communication and ability to convey technical ideas to a non-technical audience
