Sr. Attorney (Legal Operations and Technology)

The Sr. Attorney is responsible for a hybrid role as lead of the company’s legal operations function and primary commercial counsel to various groups within Pokémon’s technology organization. This role will manage a small team of legal professionals to develop, implement, and refine legal operations for a global and highly collaborative legal organization committed to innovation. Additionally, this role will provide frontline legal support to Pokémon’s growing technology organization (including its internal Game Studio, Information Technology (IT), Business Applications, and DevOps teams).
What You’ll Do
- Manage a team of legal professionals focused on both legal operations and commercial/technology transactions.
- Partner with legal and IT leadership to develop and manage legal department technology systems, design and roll out new initiatives, including legal education and training modules for the company at large, plan and execute improvements to current systems, and identify opportunities to leverage technology solutions to resolve business issues.
- Facilitate legal team operations through the creation and maintenance of contract templates, policies, playbooks, knowledge-based articles, and performance measurement tools.
- Provide exceptional front-line legal support to technology-focused client teams in a pragmatic and collaborative fashion.
- Lead a broad range of commercial negotiations with a focus on SaaS subscription agreements, software licenses, professional services agreements, data processing agreements, and non-disclosure agreements.
What You’ll Bring
- Minimum 8 years’ combined experience between (i) leading legal operations initiatives at a firm or in-house, and (ii) advising technology clients on sophisticated technology and commercial contracts.
- Prior experience as a people manager in a traditional legal advisory setting or in a legal-focused project management setting.
- Exceptional drafting, negotiation, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrable experience innovating new processes to streamline operations and increase efficiency, transparency, and comprehension between client teams and legal.
- In-house legal team experience with a company in interactive entertainment a plus.
- Experience working with multinational corporations and/or client and possessing a demonstrably strong ability to facilitate cross-cultural communications.
- J.D. or equivalent degree and bar license in good standing with the ability to practice law in Washington State.
