Sr. 2D Game Artist - Outsource Pipeline

We are seeking a 2D Artist who has a proven track record working with external outsource vendors to create compelling game art and illustrations for console and mobile games. You will work closely with the Art Director, Art Leads and outsource managers to develop high quality briefs, sketches, references and clear instructions to our outsource partners.

What you’ll be doing:
- Sketch, ideate and iterate with the Art Director & lead on buildings, props, characters, icons and banners (including environments with characters).
- Gather references, mock up icons and illustrated banner compositions for outsource workbooks with a quick turnaround time
- Learn what assets we have in our game depot and compile resources for vendors in organized folders. With each task you will create callouts for existing illustrations and provide any relevant existing models/renders.
- Work with the 3D department to provide assets such as callouts, renders, video references, and any other supplemental art that supports the design and narrative of the game.
- Provide paintovers/line drawing and feedback for outsource vendors on a daily basis, with direction from your Art Lead & Art Director
- Do a final polish pass on approved outsourced art and integrate those pieces into the final game.
- Keep track of vendor progress and our internal scheduled deadlines and coordinate with the outsource managers as needed.
Your background and who you are:
- Minimum 4-5 years as a 2D Game Artist on PC, console or mobile platforms.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating a wide range of character, environment and object design.
- Excellent illustration skills with a strong understanding of form/function and a good understanding of composition and lighting.
- Detail oriented and organized - you will need to keep track of various resource depots through Google sheets and Perforce, and keep folders organized for outsource vendors
- Expert in Adobe Photoshop
- Proficient with Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Slides
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Self-motivated, able to work independently with limited direction.
- Experience working in a professional, collaborative and creative environment.
Bonus points:
- Experience in isometric game development is recommended
- Proficient 3D modeling in Z-brush, Maya
- Multiple project experience in console / mobile games
- Bachelor’s Degree in Art
- Knowledge or experience with Perforce or JIRA
