The Opportunity
As part of the Labs research group, we are seeking a meticulous, thorough, and organized Director, with a strong technical background to lead our growing CloudLab team. In this position, you will play a key role in establishing and implementing the vision for Unity's CloudLab content authoring platform, a key piece in Unity's technology stack for the future.
CloudLab enables creators to access world-class tools via the cloud and thus aims at providing a new and exciting way to reach artists, programmers and other creative types. CloudLab enables instant access to tooling for artists and provides near-zero friction for app developers wishing to port their features and products to the Cloud.
The CloudLab Director's mission will be to define, create and deploy this platform, and together with our Product team scale it up to thousands of creators.
What you’ll be doing
- As the CloudLab Director, you will actively participate in creating a unified view of Unity's Cloud strategy across many engineering groups.
- You will lead a team made up of highly skilled backend, frontend and Unity engineers. Together with our Product Management, Tech Art teams and researchers in teams such as Unity Labs, Ziva Dynamics and Weta VFX, you will help create truly novel content authoring tools.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to define solutions to the problems our app developers and users face, and validate these ideas throughout the development process.
- Collaborating with other teams across Unity to craft and improve Unity’s overall Cloud product strategy
- Communicate successes and challenges upwards and outwards throughout the entire product lifecycle
What we’re looking for
- Someone with a strong engineering background and that has shipped Cloud-based products.
- Someone that has led a team with a large scope of impact.
- Someone with experience in the content creation or game development industry.
- Someone with deep understanding of web app tech stacks.
You may also have
- Unity, Unreal or Omniverse experience.
- Experience with USD.
