Job Description
This role is responsible for managing software development programs/projects including planning, scheduling, budgeting, specification, design, testing, validation, documentation, and release. The ideal candidate will lead multiple multi-disciplinary teams in R&D. The Program Manager maintains workflows and resolves conflict using strong leadership, management, and communication skills. This position coordinates development, collaboration, and dependencies across different teams.
Responsibilities:
- Manages projects as a hands-on manager using technical and administrative skills to oversee and complete engineering projects
- Directs the planning and execution of multiple concurrent new product programs
- Commits resources and deliverables to each project based on priorities
- Ensures effort is aligned with the product vision and quality assurance processes
- Provides support and guidance to the project teams on a coaching basis, fostering teamwork, improving communications, providing suggestions and advice regarding better ways to accomplish objectives
- Keeps project teams from repeating past mistakes
- Leads, advocates, applies, and enforces best practices in design, implementation, and testing
- Helps navigate changing technologies and trends
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
- Develops and implements improvements to the company’s structured new product development process
- Develops and communicates project plans and timetables
- Identifies and pro-actively manages program risk
- Develops program options and drive decision-making
- Ensures that all aspects of program cost, quality, timing, and scope meet business requirements
- Establishes and maintain essential program documentation
- Assists development organization during the product implementation, integration, verification, and certification phases to help mediate discrepancies and communicate decisions back to program management
- Assists in all facets of the regulatory approvals process, including design reviews, test plan preparation, troubleshooting/mitigation
- Conduct regularly scheduled project team meetings to review progress, discuss critical issues, make decisions, refine plans, and keep team members informed of changes to product requirements and/or the development plan
- Co-chairs critical design reviews with leads to present the program status to the senior leadership team
Qualifications:
- Experience working in consumer software products, and in leading others through the process of learning, implementing and contributing to it.
- Project and/or program management experience leading high-level cross-functional and global teams
- Very strong communication, facilitation and negotiation skills.
- Good to have technical roles as part of your profile.
