Software Engineer

The opportunity

We are looking for an experienced software engineer with a passion for technology and e-commerce to join our Commerce Storefront team. You will be part of a team that focuses on improving the discovery and purchase experience of Unity subscription and pay-as-you-go products, with tight collaboration with both other Commerce teams and the product teams of each offering on the store. We are part of the onboarding experience for all new Unity customers and directly impact the online-based revenue stream, with great opportunities to optimize the conversion rates.

You will be working alongside other software engineers, as well as the product and design people dedicated to our area of business. Additionally, there will be plenty of opportunities to collaborate across teams and break out of your primary focus area both from an engineering skill set and a business perspective.

What you'll be doing

• Participate in all phases of software development from design/architecture through implementation, testing, and maintenance. Building features that facilitate the development and operation of Commerce Platform storefront UI and API end-points.
• Support teammates in code quality, operational excellence, and shared learning.
• Participate actively in customer support by directly engaging with internal teams and assisting them in resolving any challenges or questions they may have.
• Collaborate with our product manager, stakeholders, and customers to understand friction points, and proposed solutions, and encourage the adoption of our tooling.
• Participate proactively in refinement and strategy sessions with the team, promoting collaboration and mutual assistance.

What we're looking for

• Comfortable with modern front-end technologies such as Next.js, React, and some exposure to back-end technologies such as Go.
• Ability to design, develop, and maintain high-quality front-end architecture.
• Solid communication skills and experience working closely with other teams and stakeholders.
• High standards for code quality, testing, and performance.
• Knowledge and experience with CI/CD best practices.

You might also have

• Experience with service-oriented architecture, leveraging Kubernetes on a public cloud provider (AWS, GCP, Azure). Our team uses Google Cloud Platform & Vercel.
• Linux and Containerization: Experience working in a Linux environment and using containers (Docker).
• Experience building platform solutions for internal development teams.
