Software Engineer, Unity

In 2020, Uken released Ava’s Manor, a solitaire game where users renovate and decorate the manor while discovering mysterious clues and dabbling in a romantic love story. Uken’s foray into narrative games is an exciting opportunity for the company.

At Uken, we believe that our success comes from the quality of our team members, and this is why we’re thrilled to be adding a talented Software Engineer to our game development team. We are looking for someone to work closely with our in-house designers, engineers, and artists to help, create and improve high-quality, cross-platform mobile games. Our developers are given a great degree of autonomy to find creative solutions while bringing the designs of our games to life.

This role is intended for a highly experienced and technically proficient candidate. As a software engineer, you will be developing mainly in a Unity C# based technology environment. You will work together with talented software engineers in the team throughout the development pipeline from design and architecture to development and testing.

As a Ukenite, you'll be working on meaningful things like:

• Implementing gameplay features with UI/UX and associated logic.
• Creating well designed, production-ready, high-quality code in C# that can be easily maintained and shared
• Optimize the code and implementation for high performance
• Testing the features you developed, make them ready for the QA team.
• Working alongside a talented team
• Creating fun, performant mobile games that people love

Your background should include:

• 5+ years experience building games for mobile platforms
• Excellent programming skills in C#
• Strong knowledge of object-oriented design, coding, and testing patterns
• Expertise with the Unity game engine
• Experience in the development of Unity UI and animation systems
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work efficiently with teammates
• An appetite to learn, grow and take on increasingly more responsibility
• A strong desire to build something that people want
• BS in Computer Science or equivalent

It'd be a big plus if you have:

• Experience in game optimization techniques: Improving frames-per-second, Reducing draw calls, and optimizing code and memory for high performance.
• Shipped a mobile game, or AAA game
• Contributions to an open-source project (include a portfolio or Github profile)
