ABOUT THE COMPANY
Forward Game Studios is expanding our development team to create cutting-edge video games for next gen consoles, PC, and VR headsets. Founded in 2016, you will be joining a veteran team of software engineers, designers, artists and other senior leadership with decades of experience who have shipped some of the bestselling titles in history including games in the DOOM, QUAKE, Wolfenstein, RAGE, Call of Duty, Counter-Strike and Left 4 Dead series.
COVID-19 Update: Forward Game Studios is based in Dallas, Texas, and we have transitioned to a mostly work-from-home model during this time. We are always eager to bring more people into the thriving Dallas game development scene, but this position is also open to fully remote applicants. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
As a Tools Software Engineer, you'll collaborate with our game development, QA and VR teams to build tools that enhance our development and testing capabilities, and improve the daily quality of life for engineers, testers, artists and producers. We are looking for a developer that is user-focused, passionate, scrappy and solution-oriented.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with the QA Manager, Production Manager and development teams to identify areas for improvement through new tools and automation opportunities
- Build and deploy internal software tools to game development and QA teams.
- Improve and maintain CI and CD servers and tools
- Be an advocate for automation throughout the company
REQUIREMENTS
- 3+ years experience working in software development roles, with an emphasis on tools and automation
- Strong C++ skills
- Strong communication skills
- Experience building UIs with at least one of the following frameworks; QT, Electron, Slate, WPF etc.
- Solid architecture skills and attention to detail
- Experience with Perforce and Git
BONUS POINTS
- Experience developing for Unreal Engine 4
- Experience with Unreal Game Sync tools
- Experience with CI tools like Jenkins or TeamCity
- Familiarity with AWS tools and services
