Software Engineer Student Worker - DOTS Team

The opportunity
Are you passionate about usability and performance? We’re rebuilding the core of Unity with the Data-Oriented Technology Stack (DOTS). DOTS makes great games run faster on multi-core processors without the heavy programming headache. Our team focuses on making DOTS an easily usable API that lets users achieve the greatest performance while writing code that is easy to understand and re-use!
You will work as part of our team to prototype new language and API features that directly help users. These features will be developed in C#, but will also utilize new compiler features. We will work together to test out new designs and ship them to users.
Expect to learn a lot about performance and the C# language. We work intimately with Microsoft C# language and are pushing the bounds of what it can do. Everything we do is driven by both performance and usability!

What you'll be doing
- Learning about the DOTS framework and data-oriented design standard methodologies
- Helping to craft an API that utilizes new and existing C# features and well as the Roslyn compiler
- Participating in testing and validating new features by writing tests and working on prototypes with in-house game projects
- Discussing technical topics with the team and taking part in design discussions
What we're looking for
- You are currently studying in a relevant subject such as computer science or engineering and looking for a student worker position
- Have a passion for programming languages
- You are focused on performance and interested in getting the most out of the hardware available to you
- Enjoy solving hard problems and collaborating with others
You might also have
- Deep knowledge of the C# programming language
- Experience using the Unity engine
- Experience with compilers
- Usability or design experience, particularly related to API design
