Software Engineer, Linux Platform OS Systems

The opportunity

The Linux and Streaming Platform OS System team is a small and agile group. We are focused on building the platform specific foundation of the Unity game engine and editor.

Join the Unity Platform Systems team to help build one of the most popular game engines in the world, and have an opportunity to advance one of the largest segments of the market while you help shape some of the newest! We believe the world is a better place with more creators in it, and we do this by reaching creators on the Linux platform.

This is an entry level position for a recent graduate (or someone with equivalent industry experience). You are passionate about coding efficient desktop applications, preferably for the Linux desktop. In your programming projects (either as part of your studies, or for fun) you know how important it is to write fast, readable, and maintainable code.

What you’ll be doing

• Collaborate across Unity R&D on core engine and editor improvements related to the advancement of desktop platform development.
• Performance optimizations that enable developers to ship the best games possible.
• Surfacing platform specific OS features to Unity developers.

What we’re looking for

• Computer Science degree or equivalent, or equivalent industry experience
• System level C++ skills (using platform APIs)
• Linux desktop, or cross platform programming experience
• Performance-minded development

You might also have

• Experience developing for Windows and/or Mac
• C# development experience
• Experience coding with GTK for Linux desktop systems
