As an Intern working at Improbable we expect you to build flexible services and tooling which allows Improbable to rapidly scale whilst delivering a seamless experience to our customers.
The Engineering team in Defence is responsible for contributing to our multi-year mission and goal; combining our distributed compute technology, massive scale simulations, advanced probabilistic modelling and AI to help selected governments meet the threats they face.
Our Internship Programme offers you the chance to discover what a career at Improbable could look like by giving you hands-on experience with key projects. If you’re a student in your penultimate year of study, you could join us on a 3-6 month paid internship across one of our engineering streams and have the chance to progress onto our graduate programme.
For a comprehensive overview of our Campus Programme, information about Engineering at Improbable and interview process, please ask for a briefing pack.
We’d like to hear from you if you identify with the following

- Extra-curricular activity and/or internships in a software environment.
- A passion for defence, gaming, simulation or distributed systems
- Appreciation for productive software engineering including Testing, Tooling, IDE mastery etc
- Algorithmic and data structures knowledge
- Please note due to the nature of this role you may be expected to meet requirements associated with obtaining UK security vetting clearance
While we think the above experience could be important, we’re keen to hear from people that believe they have valuable experience to bring to the role. If you identify with the team and mission, but not all of our requirements, then please still apply.
