The Challenge
Are you an experienced physics engineer with a passion for space exploration, rocketry, satellites, and entertainment? Are you able to solve complex problems autonomously, while also operating as a standout teammate? If you said ‘yes’, this may be the role for you!
As a Software Engineer III on our team, you will collaborate with leadership and QA, improve tools and processes, and deliver outstanding software that drives us to shipping a game that our players will love. A successful teammate in this role excels at crafting and writing stable, performant software, as well as optimizing user experiences by working with design and content creators.
What You’ll Take On
- Prototype new functionality and explore new experiences, eventually rolling these into full production.
- Own physics-based gameplay features end-to-end, including fixing physics artifacts in the game.
- Own major systems and contribute significantly to portions of the architecture and design for the game software.
- Evaluate and understand the performance impacts of various implementation possibilities and make evidence-based recommendations on a path forward.
- Hold the team to high standards by demonstrating good practices for code reviews, system design, documentation, testing, and quality software implementation.
- Recruit and interview candidates for roles on multiple projects, ensuring a consistency of quality in new hires across the company.
- Advise Senior Engineers and Leadership, while motivating and coordinating multiple developers to work in harmony.
What You Bring
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
- 5+ years of professional software development experience.
- An excellent understanding of core Aeronautic, Orbital, and Newtonian Physics fundamentals, including Kepler orbits, Hohmann Transfers, simulating N-Body systems, Lift/Drag, and Rigid Body simulation.
- High level of proficiency in C#, C++, or an equivalent OO Language.
- Deep understanding of the mathematical fundamentals behind real-time physics simulations and demonstrated ability to implement these formula in efficient, performant C# code on a modern gaming system.
- The ability to effectively communicate complex Physics concepts with non-technical peers and coworkers.
