Job Description:

Minimum Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience

· 2 years professional experience as a software engineer

· Experience with C++11 application or service development

· Experience with Python application or service development

· Experience with Linux environments, GDB debugging, and command line tools

· Experience working on large codebases

· Experience developing RESTful web APIs

· Experience with Docker or Container workflows

· Strong communication and collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications

· 4+ years professional experience as a software engineer

· Experience developing multitiered distributed applications

· Experience with Cloud Computing and Deployments

· Experience with C++17 and modern C++ compilers

· Detailed understanding of transfer protocols such as HTTP, FTP, S3, Gopher (yes Gopher), etc.

· Familiarity with unit testing and various forms of testing practices

· Familiarity with Python frameworks including Flask, Django, and Celery

· Familiarity with Python ORMs (SQLAlchemy) and databases (SQLite, MySql)

· Familiarity with Windows development

· Familiarity with web client development (AngularJS and Material Design)

About the Role

The Battle.net Game Publication team develops and maintains the mission-critical service which manages public game releases, as well as packages and distributes daily and hourly game builds internally and to millions of players worldwide.

You will join a team that is at the focal point of publishing and distributing games at Activision Blizzard and will be involved, in some fashion, on nearly every major release!

In this role, you will work on a small Empowered Product Team to maintain, debug, and improve a multitiered distributed application in Python and C++. You will conduct research to discover new, enabling technologies and work with product managers to design & develop new features and optimize existing ones. You will interact with studios and game teams to configure, optimize, and debug their game publishing pipelines. You will create and publish API and service documentation. You will work with Site Reliability Engineering on CI/CD service delivery, containerization, and autoscaling. You will work with IT on optimizing network routing and efficient global caching.

The problems we love include reliable and efficient data delivery and streaming at massive scale (petabytes per minute), management and retirement of millions of binary assets in hundreds of archive files consuming terabytes of storage, binary patching of both small and large assets across dozens of releases, binary compression, secure encryption, and more.
