Software Engineer, Frontend - Remote

Uken is looking for a Software Engineer, Frontend to join new game projects. This is a remote contract position that is expected to work between ~20-40 hours per week and is eligible for full-time consideration (after 3-6 months). We are looking for someone to work closely with our in-house designers, engineers, and artists to help create and improve high-quality, cross-platform web games for both mobile and desktop. This role will have ownership over the frontend development aspects of multiple products across mobile or desktop and may involve web3 or blockchain aspects.

You'll be working on meaningful things like:

  • Writing clean, reusable, optimized HTML/CSS, Typescript and JavaScript code for online games
  • Integrating Front End Code with third party APIs and internal Uken backend systems
  • Creating wireframes, graphical templates and other graphical elements for various web/mobile based projects
  • Collaborating with talented Software Engineers and Product Managers
  • Testing the features you developed, make them ready for the QA team
  • Creating fun, performant games that people love

Your background should include:

  • Strong proficiency in writing clean, reusable, optimized HTML/CSS, Typescript and JavaScript
  • Ability to work with modern Javascript frameworks such as React Native and Vue.js
  • Shipping frontend client code for both mobile and desktop experiences
  • Familiarity with HTTP protocol, Websockets is a plus
  • Ability to clearly communicate tasks, challenges, estimates and other day to day functions in both written and spoken language
  • Thriving in a remote work environment where proactivity, asynchronous communication and anticipation of expected follow ups are needed for efficiency
  • An appetite to learn, grow and take on increasingly more responsibility
  • A strong desire to build something that people want
  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent

It'd be a big plus if you have:

  • Web3 experience
  • Knowledge of of additional protocols beyond HTTP and Json
  • AWS knowledge
  • Contributions to an open-source project (include a portfolio or Github profile)
