SkyBox Labs is a game development studio that works on some of the world’s most iconic games. Our current projects include working as a co-developer on Halo Infinite , projects in the Minecraft Universe , supporting the development of Magic: The Gathering Arena , and original title, Stela . As one of Vancouver’s fastest-growing game studios, since our inception in 2011, SkyBox Labs has evolved from a group of 8 people developing independent projects to a team of over 200 engineers, artists, designers, producers, and more.
We are seeking a Software Engineer with core C# and Unity game development experience to join our newest team as SkyBox Labs expands our partnership with Wizards of the Coast. As a member of this team, you will be working on a diverse array of tasks in a collaborative setting, iterating on feedback, and building a game that lasts.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with a game development team on core systems and client-side api integrations.
- Prototype and iterate as needed in early stages, while focusing on top production quality after key decisions have been confirmed.
- Use your experience and skills in C# and Unity as needed, but never shy away from learning new technologies and systems to meet our technical and business needs.
- Execute on software development tasks both independently and collaboratively, while always keeping the team up to date with estimates and reports on progress.
- Prioritize honed communication skills internally, as well as externally to our partners.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 3+ years of professional game development experience, however don’t shy away from applying if you have many more.
- Fluency in core C# and Unity engine.
- Core systems experience.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- A commitment to self-direction, collaboration, and constant improvement.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic work environment.
Nice-to-haves:
- Proficiency in C++ is highly valued.
- Experience with engine optimization in Unity.
- Backend API development experience.
- Experience in shipping AAA titles.
- Support in developing more Junior engineers.
- A passion for games.
