Blizzard Entertainment is seeking a talented, motivated, and experienced engineer to join the Diablo IV Team. Art Tools Engineers’ primary objective is to build and maintain the pipelines that empower content creators to do what they do best – create great content and get it into the game. In addition to implementing and supporting tools, you will be expected to evaluate workflows and identify ways to improve them using your familiarity with 3D content creation pipelines. You will be the point of contact between multiple teams, and your communication skills will be used to train and educate those teams about our growing toolset and help guide discussions of future improvements.
What you’ll do:
Priorities can often change in a fast-paced environment like ours, so this role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:
- Collaborating closely with artists, designers, and other engineers as we iterate on art tools
- Producing mockups, participating in design discussions, and gathering feedback from artists to make sure they’re getting what they really need
- Exemplify and promote standards for code, design, and the entire software development process
- Establish mutual trust, respect among your teammates, and celebrate one another’s successes
To succeed, you must have:
- Enthusiasm for supporting and enabling others
- Experience creating GUI-driven software with an emphasis on usability (ex. MVVM)
- Experience with game content creation tools (ex. modeling, rigging, materials, anim, vfx, etc.)
- Strong verbal and written communications skills
- Motivated to learn new tools, techniques, and workflows
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or related) or equivalent tool development experience
We’re also interested in hearing stories you may have about:
- Experience building UIs in WPF, or similar presentation frameworks is strongly desired, and experience in other windowing toolkits, (ex. WinForms)
- Detailed working knowledge of Maya and writing Maya Tools
- Relevant languages: Python, MEL, pyQt, pySide, C, C++, or C#
- Experience with Art Creation Software (ex: Houdini, Substance Designer/Painter)
- Experience working with game development teams
- Experience working within a large-scale software environment
- Experience working with source control systems (ex: Perforce, SVN, Git, etc.)
- Experience working with a variety of console platforms for development
