Software Development Manager - Game Server Technology, New World

Job summary
As a Software Development Manager for Server Technology on New World, you will collaborate with partner engineering teams, game designers, and other technical leaders to chart our server technology roadmap and deliver on it. Your ambition is to empower game developers with the most flexible and powerful massively multiplayer technology in the world. You continuously find ways to support more players with lower latency and less hardware while still enabling whatever gameplay design dreams up. You are passionate about hiring and developing great technical teams, and driving delivery of impactful customer results.

Key Responsibilities:
· Drive a coherent technology roadmap from sometimes ambiguous requirements to support current and future game needs.
· Lead a team of engineers responsible for the development of New World’s core server technology.
· Coach your team members and grow their capabilities over time.
· Develop project plans and commitments for your team, then deliver consistently against those commitments.
· Triage, prioritization, and resolution of incoming live operations issues
· Be a champion for the player and create world-class tools and technology that empower developers.

Basic Qualifications

· 8+ years of professional software development experience
· 2+ years of experience writing performant, maintainable C++
· 1+ years of experience as a lead programmer or engineering manager for a team of engineers on a game or real-time simulation

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience supporting a successful live game and solving customer issues with urgency
· Shipped large scale real-time synchronous server-authoritative multiplayer games
· Experience driving systems and process for monitoring and improving game performance
· Console and PC game development experience
· Passion for playing multiplayer games
· Experience working with teams distributed across multiple locations
