On being a Software Developer Intern in the Performance Capture department
Our large team of experts bring your story to life. The 12,000 square foot, state of the art performance capture studio is outfitted with 80 Vicon T-160 cameras to capture subtle performances with extreme accuracy, perfect for everything from a solo performance to large multi-character scenes.
Our studio is also an excellent sound stage ready to record high-fidelity audio, virtually eliminating the need for ADR.
Together with professional photogrammetry station the Ubisoft Toronto Performance Capture Studio delivers the ultimate, immersive entertainment experiences.
Working within the performance capture department, the incumbent will design, implement, and ensure the proper functioning of the software that will help improve the efficiency of the production team.

The daily life of a Performance Capture Software Developer Intern at Ubisoft Toronto
- Work in a dynamic team which cooperates with other Ubisoft studios;
- Analyse and understand the nature of Performance Capture software and workflows;
- Design & implement improvements and features requested by the production team or identified by the programming team in various areas of the Performance Capture pipeline;
- Track down and correct the bugs identified on the production stage;
- Support existing functionalities and systems;
- Program in a clear and structured way, taking into account performance, maintenance, and compatibility requirements;
- Contribute to the software quality with various automated test technics;
- Document the work to transfer knowledge and allow users (from other crafts) to understand how to use the systems and functionalities;
- Carry out all other related tasks.
What it takes to make it
- Bachelors in computer science or computer engineering, or equivalent in progress;
- 0-2+ year’s software programming experience;
- Solid understanding of principles of object-oriented programming and object-oriented design;
- Knowledge of the following programming technologies: .NET Core (C#/WPF), Python;
- Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio, Git and relational databases;
- Strong self-motivation, aspiration to learn, rise and succeed;
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail;
- Ability to take initiative;
- Good communication and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to adapt to change and flexibility in work organization.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of Node.js/JavaScript would be an asset;
- Knowledge of C++ would be an asset.
