Role: Social Media Content Coordinator
Blizzard’s Marketing Content Operations team is seeking a driven, proactive, and skilled social media content coordinator for the World of Warcraft (WoW) franchise. This role is a full-time contract position with the possibility
to convert into a permanent position.
As part of the Marketing Content Operations team, the WoW Social Media Content Coordinator (SMCC) will partner directly with World of Warcraft Digital Managers and is directly responsible for the organization and distribution of content across WoW owned & operated social platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and others. To achieve this, the coordinator will collaborate with other key WoW content and operations teams such as Community, Consumer Marketing, Audience Development, and Creative production, in order to maintain centralized WoW Social content calendars. The coordinator will be expected to quickly develop an up-to-date knowledge of all major WoW publishing and game team activities.
The SMCC must be comfortable and proficient working in a fast-moving and dynamic environment, adapting their work and central calendars around situations that evolve daily, based on the nature of social media & publishing operations live operations. The SMCC understands that publishing activities can and will be affected by various external and internal factors, often outside of direct control of the SMCC and their immediate team. The SMCC must act as the communications center of gravity in pursuit of maintaining the most-up-to-date accuracy of the central content calendar as well as actively push information between the teams (local, regional, internal, external), so that all efforts are updated and coordinated.
The ideal candidate thrives in a highly collaborative environment and understands that proactive communication is the key to success in publishing live operations. Success in the role is defined by tenacious and active pursuit of the information and assets required to distribute WoW social content on-time and in an organized fashion - information will often not be directly pushed/provided to the coordinator. Growth in the role, and on the team is unlocked by the candidate’s ability and desire to refine and develop processes and workflows that enable the team to work more and more efficiently (constant improvement).
The content coordinator may work remotely, but must be able to work Pacific/Los Angeles hours, generally 9:00am - 5:00pm PDT. There may be instances of odd hour coverage required and sporadic weekend coverage.
Role Responsibilities
- Directly manage distribution of content on WoW social media channels, via Sprinklr, or directly on social platforms
- Act as the primary content distribution lead for the WoW Digital Marketing and operations team
- Maintain (on a daily basis) and have thorough knowledge of the central WoW social & content calendars
- Proactively Maintain lines of communication with regional partners, distribute assets, scheduling, best practices, global strategy, and planning updates.
- Manage and organize the intake of all assets from contributing partners (marketing, community, esports, etc) and ensure that all individual content pieces are uploaded per schedule, taking into account current social best practices.
- Contribute to or lead key cross-team calendar alignment meetings and discussion
- Position self as the WoW Social and publishing content authority
- Partner with the Social Media Content Creators on both planned and quick-turn social media posts
- Partner with Audience Development team on social data & sentiment tracking
The Ideal Candidate
- 2-3 years experience in social media channel management preferred
- Direct experience with running large social channels for gaming or other large entertainment organizations.
- Have an intimate understanding of the current global social media landscape and popular social networks.
- Able to manage multiple concurrent platforms and workstreams.
- Clear and professional written & verbal communication skills.
- Collaborative and enjoys working with diverse teams and disciplines.
- Is highly agile, adaptable, and comfortable working in a live operations publishing environment
- Proficient in Sprinklr, other social media publishing tools, or asset management systems.
- Understands active communication and relationship-building supercharge any endeavor at Blizzard
Pluses
- Love and knowledge of World of Warcraft
- Familiarity with Blizzard franchise titles and audiences
- Understanding of graphic and video asset production processes
- Can demonstrate having successfully grown an online social media channel or channels, in terms of community, followers, views, or engagements.
