We are looking to recruit a skilled and experienced Server Developer who likes working on complex technical challenges in small teams. We seek individuals who love technology and can genuinely work proactively and autonomously.
You will be working in a small cross functional games team, helping with designing features, making decisions and solving complex scalable problems. You should be a great communicator and enjoy working in a fast paced and Agile environment. This is a great opportunity to develop games with some incredibly passionate and creative people, so a passion for technology and games would be great.

Responsibilities
- Taking responsibility for server development in an agile team comprising front-end engineering, devops, art, game design and QA engineering
- Working with Java/Scala and various opensource frameworks and AWS ecosystem to develop game features, middleware, common components and tools
- Taking part in all aspects of the sprint life-cycle, from feature design and planning through implementation, launch and live operations support
- Creating elegant, reusable and tested code
- Working alongside other members of the team to help express technical concepts in a clear and accessible way
Requirements
- Strong Java/Scala Programming Experience
- Excellent server engineering skills
- Experience and/or a passion for functional programming
- Experience working in a client-server environment
- Experience working in a service based architecture
- Experience working with NoSQL systems
- Experience working in a team building and supporting a product with a significant user base
- Excellent communication skills and attitude
Bonus points for
- Having worked on a successful (>1M MAU) free to play game
- Having built and launched a mobile game on iOS and Android
- Having designed and developed an AWS based architecture with more than 100 servers
- Having a reputation in the industry for excellence in creating / contributing to open source projects
- Having a working knowledge of React
- Having a working knowledge of Unity3D
About the Tech
Space Ape's server tech connects million of players around the world and is the backbone of game events and social features. To achieve this we heavily leverage AWS services and we build every component with scalability in mind.
