Job Description
As a Yield Enhancement / Defect Management Engineer at Magic Leap, you will work collaboratively with others to improve eyepiece yield, quality, performance and cost in the production environment. Our fab produces world class digital light field eyepieces that power up our mixed reality product throughout the world. In this exciting and very dynamic team-based environment, you will work closely with Optical, Process, Metrology and Quality Engineers, as well as with production operators and technicians to identify and resolve production defect issues and yield detractors.
Responsibilities
As a Yield Enhancement Engineer you will have the opportunity to:
- Responsible for yield enhancement and defect reduction for eyepiece manufacturing. Involves using in-line inspection and defect review data to react to defect excursions, improve baseline defect levels, and support defect analyses for planned changes.
- Manage in-line patterned wafer inspection tools in the wafer fab cleanroom environment to identify defects, yield detractors and root causes
- Generate and maintain product-specific recipes/programs to enable automated inspection scans
- Manage data and databases associated with in-line inspection tools
- Analyze inspection data along with yield and parametric data
- Design and process experiments
- Generate technical reports
- Coordinate failure analysis activities
- Partnering with process/optical/quality engineers to reduce tool-level defect levels (both excursion reduction and baseline improvement)
- Enhance and create automated data analysis scripts and reports (JMP/SQL scripting is a plus)
Job Qualifications
- Engineering Degree (Bachelor’s or higher in electrical, chemical, materials engineering or science) with 2 to 5 years of semiconductor experience in yield enhancement and/or integration preferable
- Semiconductor MFG/Fab knowledge and processing experience and background is a plus
- Proficiency in statistics and data analysis (SPC, DOE, etc.)
- JMP or other statistical analysis software knowledge/experience
- Yield Enhancement project experience desired
- Defect management software knowledge/experience preferred
- Experience with bright field/SEM imaging and analysis
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Strong Analytical and Problem Solving Skills
- Teaming, both as team member and as technical leader
Education:
- Engineering Degree (Bachelor’s or higher in electrical, chemical, materials engineering or science) with 2+ years of semiconductor experience in yield enhancement and/or integration preferable
