About the role
At Wildlife the creation of world class brands is vitally important to us and as a Senior Visual Development Artist, you will be at the forefront of all of our new titles. Working alongside development and prototype teams you will be responsible for helping drive, shape and build the creative direction of a variety of brands across a diverse portfolio of game styles and genres.
The ideal candidate should have a proven track record in the creation of worlds and characters. They should possess a mobile first attitude with strong art direction and communication skills with the passion for inspiring others. This is a hands-on role where the individual is expected to be an active member of the game team helping contribute with both content and ideas.
What you'll do
- To drive visual development, artistic direction and brand creation across a variety of our games throughout various stages in their development cycles.
- Produce creative solutions to brand development through the creation of conceptual art for characters, environments and gameplay artwork.
- Create Mood boards, Style guides and Brand guidelines presenting to key stakeholders at various levels as required.
- Created Concept Art and/or 2D assets for game
- Work closely with CCO, Studio art leads, designers and respective design requirements to meet your goal.
What you'll need
- Several years’ experience in art direction, visual development and the creation of mood boards, style guides and brand guidelines for video game
- An outstanding body of work demonstrating the creation of world-class characters and environments for casual, accessible titles
- Excellent visual design skills with regard to anatomy, perspective, composition, colour lighting and visual communication
- A high level of passion for mobile games and their development backed by relevant industry experience
- You inspire, motivate and champion the artistic vision when working with designers, producers and engineers
- A versatile, proactive attitude to drive forward visual development across a variety of titles with a variety of teams concurrently
- Highly skilled in Photoshop or similar visual design software
- Ability to solve problems creatively and effectively
- Up-to-date with the latest visual development trends, techniques and tools
- Excellent communication skills. You can describe the pros/cons of different visual approaches, ideas and concepts
- Great team skills with ability to collaborate with the entire team in pursuit of finding the best visual solutions for the game
Additional Skills:
- Experience of working in an agile (e.g. SCRUM/Kanban) environment using agile ceremonies (e.g. stand-ups sprint planning retrospectives) and working with agile artefacts (e.g. user stories, task boards)
- An ability to work with minimal supervision and review and exercise independent judgement
- Experience designing for iOS, Android, or other mobile platforms
- Proficiency in using 3D to solve visual design problems
- Knowledge of the 3D art pipeline and technical constraints so that visual solutions are fit-for-purpose
