Senior VR Game Designer

Job Description

Red Storm Entertainment has an exciting opportunity for a talented Senior VR Game Designer to join our team to work on Assassin’s Creed VR! This role is specifically focused on VR-specific controls, avatar tech, world interaction, and navigation systems.

This is a leadership design role that requires directing a multi-discipline team to complete the requirements of the game’s 3Cs (character/camera/controls) and contribute to the team’s goal of reaching the project’s primary vision. You must be able to fulfill game design, design leadership to the team, collaborate with producers on planning, and interface directly with senior directors of the project. Responsibilities:

• The ideal candidate must have a strong understanding of 3Cs design, with proven experience or capability
• VR experience is highly desirable, or a demonstrable understanding of the considerations in VR and how to design for them in order to maximize player immersion and ease of use with the controls.
• Learn the game inside out and ensure the 3Cs design and implementation supports both the project goals and the other teams that rely on these core systems.
• Own the development and communication of game designs across the team.
• Be a hands-on member of the team, balancing and adjusting gameplay and systems where necessary.
• Respond to playtest feedback and define how to effectively address issues and improve the systems.
• Be the interface between the dev team, and the project Directors, as part of synergizing on goals and priorities.
• Mentor/coach junior members of the design team.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 5 years of interactive game design experience in a senior/lead role.
• 3Cs design experience is strongly preferred.
• VR design and development experience also preferred, or demonstrable aptitude of designing for VR.
• Experience developing in a fast-paced, highly iterative, and agile professional environment.
• Proven ability to document and communicate complex design ideas, and strong technical design aptitude.
• Ability to work across large teams with hands-on involvement in the production and development of the game.
• Exceptional leadership qualities, with the ability to guide and inspire others.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
• A deep passion for VR, and breaking new ground with systems related to the player and their avatar
