(Senior) VFX Artist

Your mission
We are Vertigo Games, the largest VR developer in the world and part of the Embracer Group, the largest group of developers in the world. As our Rotterdam Studio kicks off development on our new AAA VR projects, we are looking to recruit an expressive and experienced VFX artistwho can aid us in our mission!
We are looking for a VFX Artist with the ability to create impressive visual effects. You will work closely with animators, programmers and artists to develop effects from the ground up in Unity. We are particularly looking for a colleague who enjoys setting his own goals. We are ambitious, which requires adapting to the existing visual style while contributing your own ideas to the whole. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about designing and creating cutting-edge special effects for both high end and mobile.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create high quality particle effects, dynamic simulations and shader effects in a range of techniques and styles.
- Design and create special effects, including research and implement new innovative techniques.
- Monitoring VFX impact on performance and adjusting accordingly.
Your profile
- Good artistic insight and feeling for timing and animation
- You can iterate upon your designs autonomously or with limited support
- Possess proven technical ability; from content creation to getting it to run in game
- Good knowledge of Unity e.g. shaders, blueprints, particle systems
- Understand the difference between GPU and CPU particles
- Strong knowledge of pixel and vertex shaders
- Established modeling and texturing ability
- You are organized and forward thinking
- You can adapt to different visual styles
- Proficient with Photoshop
- You are eager to work on-site
Bonus points for
- Affinity and experience with VR games
- Experienced with tracking software (Jira)
- Substance Painter and/or Designer experience
- Understanding of HLSL shader language
