We are looking for a passionate and experienced Senior User Researcher to oversee and lead the user research on World of Warcraft. You will give a voice to players from around the world by leading the effort of turning hard data into compelling stories, help craft the flow of our games/products, and be in the thick of team efforts to build great player experiences.
This role is anticipated to be a hybrid work position, with some work on-site and some work-from-home. The potential home studio for this role is Irvine, CA.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the design and orchestration of study activities, ensuring quality standards are maintains and built upon overtime
- Communicate with Senior project collaborators and leadership in a tactful and persuasive manner generating consensus and prioritizing research projects
- Maintain the master research schedule for products in portfolio
- Skilled in project management practices and tools
- Evangelize User Research philosophy and share knowledge of methods and best practices with project partners
- Identify process and communication improvements for the field
- Provide coaching and mentoring to other User Researchers working on World of Warcraft
- Ensure project consistency with departmental process on how to generate and formulate workable feedback
- Work with departmental leadership to prioritize and complete research initiatives
- Carry out research using a number of methods including, but not limited, to usability testing, UX, balance testing, focus groups, interviews, surveys, heuristic evaluations, card sorts, exploratory research, and field studies
- Leverage and suggest new data sources to contextualize analysis and recommendations
- Coordinate test strategy and design, for public and internal playtests
- Maintain detailed records of study details
Requirements
- Graduate degree in psychology, human-computer interaction, human factors, marketing, communications, market research, or related field
- Minimum 6 years’ experience usability or user research testing video games
- Prior experience owning all research on a shipped game
- High knowledge base of gameplay mechanics, theory crafting, monetization, live operations & research, and regional considerations
- Excellent interpersonal communication (both written and verbal)
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills
- Proven ability to translate research findings into actionable product improvements
- Adaptable self-starter that enjoys tackling a large variety of problems, both tactical and abstract
- Real passion for user testing and video games

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $92,920.00 - $171,814.00 Annual. This base pay range is for the U.S. and is not applicable to locations outside of the U.S. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
