Senior UX / UI Designer

We are on the hunt for a solid Senior UX / UI Designer to provide documentation for interaction design that adheres to a cohesive UX / UI style guide and maintains consistency between the design direction and visual direction determined by the Art Director and UX/UI Lead. This individual will be an integral part of the team designing, creating, implementing, and optimizing UI assets for our next title. This position is responsible for maintaining the studios standards of high design and visual fidelity, hyper realistic aesthetics, and presenting game information in a clear and understandable manner.

Essential Duties:

• Partner with the Art Director and UI Lead to establish and execute the UI design and aesthetic
• Design and create UX components and flows (ex. menus, stats and inventory screens, in-game HUD elements, etc.)
• Rapidly iterate and develop solutions to design challenges while following creative and art direction
• Create, edit, and optimize high quality UI assets and animations
• Develop visual design systems that achieve goals from both game design and UX perspectives
• Collaborate and communicate with art directors, UX/UI lead, UI Artist, game designers, producers & programmers in the creation and implementation of the game UI
• Test functionality and bug fixing to ensure work is end user ready
• Contribute to the design and streamlining of UI tools and processes.

Essential Requirements:

• 6-8 years’ experience as an Designer or Artist, with at least three games shipped.
• Experience using UX design software, illustrator and Photoshop
• Great collaborative skills, rigorous analytical skills and strong creative drive a must.
• Must have the ability to conceptualize, present and execute ideas.
• Strong understanding of game navigation and common UX patterns
• Functional understanding of 3D modeling, texturing and animation
• Ability to work well within a team environment
• Proven track record of strong organizational and communication skills (including interpersonal, writing and editing) with the ability to multitask, prioritize efficiently and meet deadlines.
• Top level of understanding design process and principles
• The desire to work in a challenging, fast-paced environment.
• Self-motivated individual

Nice to Haves:

• Experience working with special effects on a game
• Drawing (industrial design or comic book background), painting and texturing experience.
• A level of illustration, design and animation skill
• Maya Experience
• Ability to visualize game design when drawing is a plus.
• Experience interfacing with Programmers regarding projects
• BA from illustration program
