Relic is an award-winning developer of genre-defining strategy games including Homeworld, Company of Heroes, and Age of Empires IV. We have delivered rich interactive experiences for over 25 years, and we’re proud to continue making games that bring joy to our players.
We have a unique opportunity for a Senior UX Designer to join our Vancouver studio and work on our UX/UI team supporting Company of Heroes 3, Age of Empires IV, and more. As an integral part of our UX/UI team, you will be tasked with immersing our players into the design of the game and creating a AAA player experience.
As a Senior UX Designer, you will…
- Be the architect of where information lives and how it is presented to the player
- Specify both front-end and in-game HUD interactions through wireframes, prototypes, and more
- Balance the needs of design, art, player expectations, and more, to create an engaging & seamless player experience
- Understand the intent of various game systems and how to make that design come to life through UI
- Design the logic, layout, and flow of all the in-game user interface elements so that they are easy to understand and navigate
- Communicate cross-team to give and receive feedback
You're a great fit if you have...
- Experience taking major AAA console and PC games from concept to completion
- A portfolio of work that showcases UX, interaction design skills, and high-level problem-solving (please include this portfolio link in the application)
- Proven skills using various UX design methods - contextual inquiry, card sorting, user journeys, personas, stakeholder interviews, wireframes, etc.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills, plus an ability to produce clear designs that describe the experience
- Strong working knowledge of Photoshop / Illustrator and interaction design tools Axure / Omnigraffle / Adobe XD / Figma
- Foundational graphic design skills (space, layout, typography, image)
- A desire to learn and grow with us
It’s a bonus if you have…
- Experience working on a live service game or post-launch support
- Experience designing and prototyping control schemes, PC and Console
- Experience with WPF, knowledge of XAML and Microsoft Blend
- Experience with data analysis and visualization in tools like Excel, Tableau, etc.
