The Battle.net & Online Products (B&OP) organization is home to technology that powers Blizzard Entertainment’s games. Whether you’re playing one of our titles, chatting with friends, or just shopping online, B&OP ensures that our players are immersed in engaging, exciting, and secure experiences. As a Senior UX Designer for Platform , you’ll work with product managers, engineers, and (of course) designers to create holistic and system-wide experience s that support game teams, developers, and our players.
We are looking for a team player who can thrive in a highly collaborative, rapidly changing, and multi-disciplinary environment. You’re someone who can manage both the work as well as cultivate the relationships needed to be an effective designer. You have top-tier communication skills, have an entrepreneurial spirit , and can think both holistically and globally. Y ou’ll also have a proven track record of creating and shipping multiple products in the technology or gaming space.
The ideal candidate combines hands-on UX work, information architecture, and a good understanding of technical systems design . They should demonstrate the value of design every day, working easily with peers from across all disciplines. A passion for product thinking, UX research, and gaming are essential. The team is searching for someone who is iterative, collaborative, and curious. Bonus points for being someone who is very detail oriented, familiar with complex back-end technologies, and sees thorough documentation as both a fun ctional and necessary part of the process.
Covid-19 Hiring Update: We’ve transitioned to a work-from-home model and we’re continuing to interview and hire during this time. This role is expected to begin as a remote position. We understand each person’s circumstances may be unique and will work with you to explore possible interim options.
Understand what our users are doing and why – Analytics, competitive analysis, interviews, and research support
Define problems and opportunities – Combine analysis of our user with business needs to form stories and plan solutions
Create and show solutions – Strategy, wireframes, flowcharts, prototypes, feature matrices, and designs using tools such as Miro, Figma, and Adobe CC . You’ll be presenting and communicating your work across the organization and to other teams at Blizzard
Collaborate effectively – Team up with other disciplines such as product managers, engineers, other designers, and researchers
Iterate based on “validated learning” – More flowcharts, wires, and designs – often in collaboration with the research , product, and engineering team s
Deliver and follow through – Launch ideas ( e.g. final wires, detailed flows, error states, etc.) and assist in post-launch analysis including A / B testing
Drive strategy – Strategize and drive the design of products and features with the right combination of creativity, moxie , and energy
- Minimum of 6 years as user experience designer, interaction designer, information architect, or similar in a technology driven environment
- Knowledge and experience in defining high-level product design strategy
- Experience leading and mentor ing designers, growing their mastery of the design craft and nurturing soft skills
- A portfolio that demonstrates detailed documented designs of shipped products and shows systems thinking from holistic perspectives
